The trapezoid opal in the above picture (top right), donated to the G.I.A., was highlighted in the Summer 1991 Gems & Gemology magazine, Vol. XXVII, in an article writted by Dr. Grahame Brown, President of the Gemological Association of Australia, as an example of natural black opal, as opposed to treated opal.
